The Virginia Institute of Marine Science is seeking an individual to manage field and lab operations for a major new fishery-independent survey program. The program will sample adult fish throughout the entire Chesapeake Bay. Ageing studies, diet analysis, and hydro-acoustics will be major components of the survey.

Applicants should have a degree in marine science, biology, fisheries or a related field or an equivalent combination of directly related training and experience; Knowledge of and experience with aquatic field sampling, experience working on boats in various environmental conditions is desired. An advanced degree and ability to initiate ideas and projects is helpful.

The closing date for applications is 26 October, 2001. Starting salary is $34,910, plus full state benefits.
