I would let it go if your friend got it out of the wild....but if you feel you can take care of it, then you need to jump on the internet and you will find tons of info. I have an older painted that eats plants, store bought turtle food and fish (goldfish or feeder fish). As babies, they tend to me more carnivorous. You will need an aquarium with plenty of places to get out of the water as well as plenty of space to swim around.
