: Summer Field Experience in Herpetology
: (3-4 available positions)

: Duties: Applicants will assist with ongoing field studies of reptilian physiological ecology at Crescent Lake National Wildlife Refuge, in the remote sandhills of western Nebraska. Duties may include, but are not limited to: capture and handling of large turtles and snakes; making extended observations of nesting turtles; mapping nest locations; recording and analyzing data. This is an extraordinary opportunity to assist research on multitude of reptiles in a remote and fascinating setting.

: Qualifications: Applicants must have a strong interest in herpetology, be in good health, and be able to perform strenuous work. Field herpetology often requires long work hours under adverse conditions; a cheerful and positive disposition is essential. Applicants must be able to remain at the field site, without interruption, from mid/late May 2002 through early July 2002, and be willing to share rudimentary living quarters with other researchers, both male and female. Third- and fourth-year undergraduates are preferred.

: Stipend provided to qualified applicants.
